A Yakima truck driver will serve one year and a day in jail after he pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide charges in a fatal three-car crash near Orondo two years ago.
56-year-old Kenneth Hahn caused the March 2015 crash on Highway 97 after falling asleep at the wheel and colliding with a car and then the school bus. Carmela Cuellar was killed in the accident. Douglas County Superior Court Judge, John Hotchkiss handed down the sentence which was less than requested by the prosecution but slightly more than what Hahn’s defense attorney requested.
The judge cited Hahn’s lack of felony history or similar offenses for the lighter sentence.
