Trojan varsity volleyball defeats Liberty Bell in three sets at their first game of the season

Manson’s Volleyball teams hosted Liberty Bell on Tuesday, Sep. 5, 2017, for the the Trojan’s first volleyball match of the season. Junior Varsity fell in three sets, while Varsity came out on top three sets to zero.

In JV Action:

  • Set scores were 8-25, 15-25 and 9-25.
  • Leading the team was Sarah Simmons with five kills and five out of five (5/5) serves behind the service line with one ace.
  • Marylein Bernarado served 8/8 with one ace.

In Varsity Action:

  • Set scores were 25-12, 25-21 and 25-21.
  • Leading the team in kills were Celina Mendoza with 12, Megan Clausen with 7 and Kendall Petre with 7.
  • Leading the team with digs were Trojan Libero, Sandra Diaz, with 8 and Briseyda Landa with 4.
  • Serving highlights include 8/8 with 2 aces for Alyssa La Mar and 8/8 for Megan Clausen. Kassie Macias served 15/17 with 4 aces and Briseyda Landa served 8/10 with 2 aces.

“Setter Abbie Reed also gave a solid performance to help pull off the win against Liberty Bell,” Coach Hayli Thompson commented. “The Trojans played loud, high energy volleyball and all contributed to a great win!”

The next match will be on Thursday, September 7 in Lake Roosevelt with JV action starting at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity to follow.
