A structure fire Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, 2017, in Manson engulfed a shop containing several vehicles at 350 Boyd Loop Road. The large plume of black smoke was visible on both sides of Lake Chelan. The two-alarm fire was first reported at 9:39 a.m. and brought in firefighters from Orondo and Entiat to assist crews from Chelan and Manson.
Fire officials said that the first unit to arrive reported a large 60’ x 100’ shop building with orchard tractors, boats and vehicles in it that was 80% involved with fire. A second alarm was requested around 9:46 a.m. which brought additional resources.
Officials say that firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures and brush. The losses were limited to the building of origin.
Responders also set up a defensive operation and exposure protection for the apartments to the west after confirming no one was inside the burning shop.
Chelan County Sheriff Deputies, Chelan County PUD and the Chelan County Fire Marshal also responded and assisted. The fire was contained to the building of origin and was a total loss including all of its contents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
