WENATCHEE, WA – No need to throttle back on summer boating quite yet with the weather staying warm and the Labor Day holiday weekend approaching.

Chelan PUD says it knows their customer-owners place high value on recreation, and Chelan PUD’s 14 parks – many with boat ramps – are popular launching points for a day on Lake Chelan and the Columbia River.

Chelan County PUD is working with other dam operators on the Columbia to balance hydro operations, fish passage, recreation and the flows delivered by Mother Nature so we all can enjoy a refreshing day on the river and the lake.

Be sure to stay safe by checking flows and levels in the Columbia River and on Lake Chelan before you leave the dock, and watch for changes while you’re on the water. Real-time information is available online and anytime from your phone or tablet. See chelanpud.org under “Fishing and Boating” and “River Flows and Water Temperatures.”

Boaters, sailors, paddlers and swimmers are urged to be careful on the river and lake and observe all barricades and warnings above and below the dams.

Now also is a good time to check your safety gear, such as adult and child life vests, to make sure they are in good, working condition.

Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day holiday!
