The Lake Chelan Rotary invites you to kickoff Spring Barrel Tasting with a brand new, three-event vineyard run. On May 20, 2017, participants will run through Chelan vineyards enjoying beautiful views Lake Chelan, mountains and grape vines between the award-winning Tsillan Cellars and Tunnel Hill Winery.

Profits from this fund-raiser go to scholarships for Lake Chelan Valley students as well as a future park project that the Lake Chelan Rotary is currently developing.

Seasoned runners will enjoy the 5K Vineyard Challenge laid out in a double loop with a total elevation gain of 900 feet. Bragging rights and breathtaking views await those who accept the challenge.

The 5K Fun Run invites experienced and novice runners and walkers to push for enjoyment over speed. Bring the dog and stretch your legs after the long winter.

The 2.5 K Fun Run welcomes family and friend groups and the short legs (kids and dogs). This is a great opportunity for elementary student running clubs and relaxed jogging-walking participants.

“Amazing vistas of vineyards and big blue Lake Chelan, invigorating fresh-air exercise with friends and my dog along for the run – what could be better?  I can’t wait to take part in the 2017 Rotary Vineyard Challenge and Fun Run,” Guy Evans of Chelan stated following the 2016 event.

All three runs will be timed. Recognition will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers of the 5K Vineyard Challenge. The 5K Fun Run will recognize top three male and female and top three runners finishing with their dog companion. The 2.5K Fun Run will recognize the top three boy and girl finishers ages 12 and under and top three finishers 12 and under with their dog companion.

Though the event does not feature grape stomping, activities during the morning will include a silent auction, kids’ games, hot dogs on the grill and even a wagon ride up to the winery for a tour.

To register, visit the event’s website and click on the registration link. Registration costs before May 1 are $35 for adults, $10 for teens 13-18 years of age and kids 12 and under are free. After May first, fees increase $5 each and kids 12 and under are still free.
