Chelan Museum volunteers Jim and Pat Parker just finished an enormous 10 year+ project for the Lake Chelan community and the Chelan Museum. Last Friday, November 3, 2017, the Parkers shot and photo-edited the last of 69 bound volumes of Chelan newspapers.

The archived collection runs from 1891 to 1990 and includes more than five different papers including the Chelan Falls Leader, Chelan Leader, Lake Chelan Eagle, Chelan Weekly Leader, Lakeside Light, and the Lake Chelan Mirror.

“Pat clicked the camera shutter 57,242 times, and Jim cropped and straightened 57,242 images and organized them into 129 folders! Amazing dedication!” said the Chelan Museum Director Ron McGaughey.

Researching a specific subject? Now, it’s no problem. Arrangements can be made to search the newspaper records computer.

“Their dedication to this project has been incredible,” said McGaughey. “Thank you Jim and Pat!”

For more information visit the Chelan Museum located at 204 E. Woodin Ave, Chelan or visit their website at www.chelanmuseum.com or their new Facebook page.
