The Historic Downtown Chelan Association (HDCA) is excited to announce new and old festivities for this year’s Small Town Christmas celebrations.
For the first time, Lake Chelan will have a Festival of Trees which has been growing in popularity in towns and cities across the nation. The event is a silent auction benefiting the Lake Chelan Food Bank.
Individuals, merchants, businesses and organizations are all invited to participate in this worthwhile event by donating a decorated Christmas tree or wreath for the auction. Trees or wreaths can be big or little, classy or silly! Let your creativity and imagination fly!
All trees and wreaths will be on display and up for silent bid at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24. The Santa’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 24 with the Festival of Trees winning bids announced after the tree lighting.
The HDCA has also has added new festivities to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Downtown Chelan. This year, all children are invited to participate in the Children’s Light Parade. Children, decked out with glow sticks, reindeer antlers and elf hats will lead Santa to the tree for the lighting.
After the lighting, families are invited to stay and enjoy marshmallow roasting, hot cider and cocoa! In addition, for something a bit more hearty, the Lake Chelan Eagles will be baking up warm pastries that became a popular staple during the 17th and 18th centuries.
On November 25, the HDCA will host a Pancake Breakfast with Santa at Campbell’s Resort from 9-11 a.m.
