Goats Defeat Bulldogs
Chelan 21, Cashmere 14
In what most agree was the best play of the 2009 football season, the Chelan Goats 'did it' and overpowered the Cashmere Bulldogs Friday night and earned the right to play again next week in playoff competition. For the Cashmere Bulldogs, it was their worst fear - and ends their season after being undefeated prior to Friday night's loss..
GoLakeChelan's Sports Team was in Cashmere Friday night. Tracy & Linda Williams gives us these 4 still photos from a much larger collection we will publish soon. (Click on the images to the left for enlargements)
And Dave Spanjer & Jerry Isenhart were there to produce our 2nd attempt at LIVE-VIDEO Play-by-Play. Our efforts are available below in 3 segments.
Shortly into the third segment (C) you can watch as Chelan's Matt Peterson is hit hard and laid what appeared to be motionless for several minutes. We're told he suffered a concussion from the impact.
The game was stopped for the injury, with coaches, medics, and a doctor who was attending the game, all evaluating Peterson's condition prior to moving him on to a stretcher, then to an ambulance that was driven on to the field. Peterson was transported to the hospital in Wenatchee and an announcement to the crowd later said he had suffered a concussion.
Peterson's injury seemed to rally the Goats and as you'll see as you watch the last (part C) video.
A member of the team told us "We won it for Matt" and that was a mantra we're told they chanted before every play for the remainder of the game.

A Note from your Webmaster - Special Thanks to our readers for the feedback on our Video-Casting efforts and to our sponsors who have underwritten our adventure.
As you can tell - with each outing - we seem to knock down a few more of the obstacles to making this work for viewers, and we look forward to the day that we can give you 'network quality' from the field.
Tips for viewers - If you see we are having video problems and simply want to hear the game - we also have a standard straight audio stream that offers a back-up in the event of video problems.
As with last night - using the Chat-Box we were able to communicate with viewers who kept us abreast of our broadcast, and tipped us that we had a freeze frame (Video Locked Up). Since the audio was fine - we decided to stay with the feed until half time - which was just minutes away - and try to re-boot the systems during the half. Oh how amazing it was - how SLOW was the re-boot process in the cold. It seemed like forever.
We were told we had an echo on the video after the re-boot so we had to do it again. It was an eternity.
Our last Video Archive Segment (C) starts late in the 3rd quarter - but we must have had the Computer Angles watching over us - as we were finally 'Back On' .. just 2 or 3 plays before Cashmere broke the 7-7 tie and made a long run and moved ahead to take the lead 14-7.
And then, just a couple of plays later, Chelan's Matt Peterson was hit hard, sustaining a concussion, and brought the game to a temporary halt while he was cared for.
