Manson Volleyball hosted Soap Lake on Saturday, Oct. 15 for a battle to secure the second place spot in league. The Trojans came up with the win after a tough fought 5 set match.
Set scores were: 16-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-12 and 18-16. (Manson scores listed first.)
Leading the team for the Trojans were Maddee Ward with 21 kills and 9 digs. Baylee Ward added 15 kills and 12 digs. Megan Clausen had nine kills and two blocks. Celina Mendoza added 6 kills and a block.
Analexis Manjares led the team with digs at 16, and Daicy Leyva added 8 digs.
Behind the service line, Daicy Leyva served 18/20, Kayla Gosvener served 14/15, Baylee Ward served 20/23 with seven aces and Maddee Ward served 17/19 with three aces.
Saturday’s win brings the Trojan’s season record to 12-1 and has them sitting in second place in league.
On the Junior Varsity side, Manson lost the first set before coming back to win the second and third with set scores of 25-27, 25-18 and 15-5.
Leading the team were Brenda Lopez with six kills and seven digs. Lesly Alvarez added three kills. Suly Bucio had six digs, and Julia Sanchez added five more.
Behind the service line, the Trojans served their best game of the season at 97 percent as a team!
Before the match Saturday, the nine Trojan senior volleyball players were honored as this was their last scheduled home match of their high school career.

The volleyball season isn’t over yet. The teams travel to Bridgeport on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for the Mustangs Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Junior Varsity stars at 5 p.m. and Varsity begins at 6:30 p.m.
