The Home Tour will feature four lovely homes in the Lake Chelan Valley, and each home will be featured in a series of articles this week.
- Historic Treasure – owned by Dan and Dian Prentice
- Turn of the Lake – owned by Larry and Rosie Epstein
- Quail Run – owned by Jeff and Kelly Chambers
- House on the Hill – owned by Dave and Sherry Weitzel
The first home featured is ‘House on the Hill’ owned by Dave and Sherry Weitzel. “The best feature of the house is the view,” says Sherry Weitzel of her home perched on the hill overlooking the lake.
No one could argue. As you enter, note the artwork to the right. Its neutral shades of slate and dove, chalk and straw are carried throughout the home.
Sherry and Dave began coming to Lake Chelan in the 1970s, and bought a condominium here in 1990. As their family grew, they needed more space, and so began ‘years of searching’ until just the right lot became available. Sherry describes the home as ‘Texas hill country inspired.’
The open concept main area, serene and elegant with modern, clean lines frames, but does not distract from the view. The seating area features a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and a play of different textures: stone, wood, metal, glass, with accents of lime green. The long dining table, with its sinuous curves, was cut from a single tree. Step out on the deck and the swimming pool on the level below is added to the vista of orchards, gardens, and the lake.
Downstairs, a central family room with large-screen TV has a wet bar complete with dishwasher, ice-maker, and wine cooler. Three spacious guest suites with easy access to outdoor seating areas and the pool lend the home the feeling of a resort. “My favorite area is the bunk room with its rustic barn door,” Sherry says.
