Lady Trojans Volleyball hosts Soap Lake and are defeated 3 sets to 1

The Manson Trojan Varsity Volleyball team hosted Soap Lake on Tuesday, Sept, 19, 2017, for a non-league contest and they lost in four sets. The team lost the first two sets, came back to win the third but in the end were defeated losing the fourth set. 

On the Varsity side:

  • Set scores were 17-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 10-25.
  • Leading the team behind the service line was Kassie Macias with 13/13 and 2 aces.
  • Celina Mendoza had 7/7 with 2 aces.
  • Alyssa La Mar served 6/6.
  • Celina Mendoza led the Trojans with 10 kills.
  • Megan added 4 kills.
  • Abbie Reed had 3 kills.

“We will continue to iron a few things out,” Coach Haylie Thompson said. “These girls are determined and disciplined, and I believe when it all clicks together, we will start winning some games.”

Manson’s Junior Varsity won their match in an exciting two of three sets.

On the JV side:

  • Set scores were 25-21, 18-25 and 26-24.
  • Marylein Bernardo served 12/12 with 4 aces.
  • Ali Adame served 3/3 with 2 aces.
  • Sarah Simmons led the team with 2 kills.
  • Diocelina Cervantes, Lexi Stotko and Sarah Simmons all had strong serve receive passing for the Trojans.

The Trojans will play their next game Thursday, Sept. 21 on the road at Bridgeport, with JV starting at 5 p.m. and Varsity to follow.
