The Manson Lady Trojans Soccer team traveled to Brewster for a match against the Lady Bears on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017. Brewster is currently the number one team in the league, and although Manson fought hard, the Lady Trojans fell by a score of 4 to 0.
Two goals on either side of the half were enough to clinch the win for the Bears, but the game stayed close and competitive, primarily because of the intensity and the organization from the Lady Trojans. Manson Goalkeeper Evelyn DeJesus recorded an incredible 29 saves on the day!
“In a game where a superiorly talented Brewster team could have run riot, the Lady Trojans played within themselves and played together to make things very difficult for the powerful Bears,” Coach Jared Mumley said.
He continued, “The defensive power of Deisy Leyva and Perla Villasenor thwarted many Brewster attacks which were eventually cleaned up by the sharp DeJesus. In the end, the result did not go Manson’s way, but there are plenty of positives to take away from a difficult game on the road.”
The Lady Trojans play their next match against Liberty Bell on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. in Winthrop.
