Judge Alicia Nakata to retire from Chelan County Superior Court bench

WENATCHEE – Chelan County Superior Court Judge Alicia Nakata has announced her decision to retire at the end of the year, effective Jan. 1

The 62-year-old judge has served since 2013 succeeding Judge John Bridges. Prior to that She also served as Chelan County District Court Judge for 17 years. Nakata was reelected last year to another four year term.

Governor Jay Inslee will be tasked with appointing a new judge to serve out the remainder of Nakata’s term through 2020. Any Washington State Bar Association member in good standing may apply for the position, and the Chelan Douglas County Bar Association may provide recommendations. The new appointee will be required to establish residency in Chelan County upon accepting the appointment.

Judge Nakata is married to US District Court Judge, Stanley Bastian.
