The Chelan High School Goats Football team gathered for pre-season action against Liberty High School and Oroville High School on Saturday morning, august 26, 2017. The event was a Jamboree, a series of mini practice games against multiple opponents prior to a season. While the scores are of little consequence during a ‘Jamboree’, coaches use the event to gauge their team’s strengths and weaknesses against their opponents before going into the season.
Goats Head Coach Travis Domser expressed pride in his team following play against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions and the Oroville Hornets, but identified areas that the team will focus on in the coming season.
“We got a lot of plays,” Coach Domser explained. “We made lots of mistakes and did a lot of good things, so we get to correct the mistakes and hype the good things.”
“Anytime you get to have a scrimmage before your first game is good,” Domser continued. “Blocking and tackling need to get better at all times. Those two things we will need to focus on every week.”
Coach Domser and the Goats will take on Quincy in the first game of the season on September 1, 2017, on the Jackrabbit’s turf.
