The Chelan 7 Firefighters Association hosted their Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on June 3, 2017. The event serves to bring the community together to meet and mingle with the career and volunteer staff of Chelan Fire and Rescue.
The annual pancake breakfast was not originally intended to be a fundraiser according to association volunteer, Anne Clark. “We do it mostly as a thank you to the community,” Clark explained. “We have food that is donated by local businesses.”
Apple Cup Café, Blueberry Hills Farm and Chelan IGA Market donate food for the event which went through over 60 dozen eggs, 100 pounds of pancake batter, 30 pounds of blueberries, 20 gallons of orange juice and an extensive amount of coffee Clark estimates.
Clark went on to explain that the funds raised by the event go directly back into the community. “The funds go into our general fund, and it is used for different charity organizations such as the Chelan Food Bank and the emergency aid fund. Everything we bring in goes back to the community.”
Volunteers flipped and served up fresh pancakes to the community as guests took turns riding along with Chelan 7 mascot, Sparky on the vintage red fire truck.
“We think we served close to 500 based on the plates,” Clark said.
