Afraid of the dark? Don’t be!

Come experience the 2017 North American solar eclipse with friends and community members this Monday, August 21, 2017, from 8 – 11 a.m. at the Morgen Owings Elementary School playground.

Local teachers and amateur astronomers will be on hand to help people understand the eclipse and how to view it safely.

The actual eclipse will begin around 9:10 a.m.

Bring your sun-viewing glasses if you have them. Just make sure they are approved by reputable vendors. Telescopes with sun filters will be on hand for those without special glasses, or you can learn how to make a pinhole sun viewer.

Just bring a long cardboard tube or large box. There will also be other activities and demonstrations on site to help you better understand the Sun-Earth-Moon system.

For any questions, please contact Jeremy Anhalt at anhaltj@chelanschools.org.
