Entertainer and pianist John Nilsen returns to Chelan on Sep. 22

John Nilsen is a pianist, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and one of the Pacific Northwest’s most successful performance and recording artists.

He will give a FREE concert at the Lake Chelan United Methodist Church, 206 N. Emerson Street in Chelan, on Friday, Sep. 22 at 1:30 p.m.

Nilsen was born in Seattle, raised mostly in Portland and graduated from Southern Oregon University which awarded him the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1995. He began studying the piano at age six and the guitar at age twelve. He also performs with two bands which have produced several popular CDs.

Nilsen has averaged 225 shows a year over the past 35 years, performing many times in each state, as well as Germany, Great Britain, the Philippines, Canada, Taiwan and Singapore.

Nilsen has also performed with Jose Feliciano, Jesse Colin Young, Kenny G and other popular performers. He is comfortable playing and singing a mix of folk, classical, jazz and rock with thoughtful comments and musical history thrown in.

A FREE lunch at Lake Chelan United Methodist Church is offered on Fridays from 12 p.m. (noon) to 1:30 p.m., and the public is welcome to come early for lunch before the John Nilsen concert.
