For thirsty locals and visitors in downtown Chelan, a new option for entertainment and libations will have a soft opening this Sunday, August 6, 2017. Located at 114 E. Woodin Avenue, in the building known as the Riverfront Shops, Steelhead Cider will celebrate the opening of their NEW tasting room. The location will also house GoLakeChelan.tv Studios later this month. Steelhead Cider’s tasting room will be the first cidery to grace the downtown Chelan retail strip.
“It feels good. I don’t think there has ever been a cider tasting room in Chelan, so it is great to be the first,” said Ben Barnes, owner and manager of Steelhead Cider.
The soft opening on Sunday, August 6 will go from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., and a variety of adult-beverages will be available for guests at the Tasting Room.
“We will open at 1 p.m. We will have our cider, Lake Chelan Brewery on tap and wine available for sale, too,” Barnes explained. “We will have cider tastings, and it will also be available to-go as well, along with some snacks.”
Steelhead Cider serves locally brewed offerings which include The O.G. Dry, Chimera Cherry Apple, Furious George Ginger and Peargatory (vanilla pear). In addition, Barnes will be pouring a couple of local brews from Lake Chelan Brewery out of Manson. The brewery and cider house have long shared a passion for local brewing with both locations being based out of Manson, Washington. Barnes and Lake Chelan Brewery Owner Lee Medina will bring their friendship and brews to downtown Chelan on Sunday.
“I like Lee’s beers a lot and we get along great,” Barnes said. “He [Medina] sells my ciders in his place. We used to play sports together, and now here we are on a parallel path.”
“Me and Ben have known each other since high school. We played football together,” Medina said. “I think it’s awesome that he wants to pour our beers down there. Being partnered with a company like Steelhead, who are growing just like us, I think it’s great.”
Steelhead Cider will pour four ciders in addition to four of Lake Chelan Brewery’s beers for guests of the new Chelan tasting room. For those seeking a glass of premium wine, Northwest Cellars out of Kirkland, Washington will make their way across the Cascades, to serve as house wine for the soon to be hot spot.
Northwest Cellars offers personalized labels for wines which will be available not just for guests of the tasting room, but artists and audience-members who take part in the groundbreaking production studio which anchors the location.
The tasting room will also be offering wines from Horan Estates Winery of Cashmere, Washington, at the soft opening. Local wines will always be offered on a rotational basis along with the house wine, brews, and ciders.
The tasting room shares the space with GoLakeChelan.tv Studios, and the new studio is gearing up to become a unique entertainment hub for the Lake Chelan Valley. It will serve as a new home later this month for the company’s live shows such as the local news program, The Lake Show Live with Jillian and the spiritual wellness program, Unwind and Explore. Guests of the tasting room and studio will have the opportunity to witness live tapings while sipping on local brews.
“We are so thrilled to be able to bring this unique and exciting entertainment hub to the valley,” said Todd Kelly, owner of GoLakeChelan.com and GolakeChelan.tv Studios. “Whenever you create something new and innovative, you enjoy working together with other innovative minds who understand your vision.”
Kelly’s vision will include opportunities for locals and visitors of the Lake Chelan Valley to enjoy live entertainment by a variety of performing artists in a state-of-the art studio. Artists who perform in the studio will have the opportunity to livestream to their fans and create a high-quality recording of the performance for their use in getting exposure in the valley and beyond.
“With the new technology that exists, the sky really is the limit,” Kelly stated of live streaming. “There is so much talent in the Lake Chelan Valley and surrounding communities, and by helping to share that talent with the world, we’re beginning to see artists from outside the area planning their trips here to experience our program.”
Kelly recently partnered with international marketing agency, KEY Difference Media to create Go4DLive!, which offers performing artists the opportunity to visit Lake Chelan and work with marketing professionals while recording and performing to create their own business plan. The program was recently utilized by Domonique Jackson, a hip hop singer, artist and performer, who has already found a following overseas.
“I’m excited about being on the leading edge of the music industry, as part of the Go4DLive! Launch,” said Jackson.
GoLakeChelan.tv recently signed a contract with Jackson’s label, Jackson Music and Entertainment Group, to bring Jackson and other artists under the label to experience Lake Chelan and Go4DLive!
“Disruptive technologies don’t have to disrupt your life, they should actually enhance it, which is what our mission is,” said Kelly of the new studio and services being offered. “We are dedicated to bringing more possibility to the Lake Chelan area using in-studio live streaming, the greatest advancement ever in broadcasting history.”
