Chelan Softball team racks up high scores to defeat Okanogan in doubleheader

Game 1- Four RBI day for Gleasman leads the Goats past Okanogan

The Chelan Softball Team defeated Okanogan 17-6 on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. An early lead helped propel the Goats to victory by taking the lead on a single in the first inning.

Okanogan scored first with E. Chilcote singling on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run. But then the Goats took the lead for good with three runs in the first inning, two of those runs were scored on an error.

The Goats went on to score six runs in the second inning that included a double by Katanna Kelling, a single by Katie Gleasman, a single by Taylor Sams, and two errors.

Chelan’s Katie Gleasman had a stand out performance overall by driving in four runners with a single in the second inning, a single in the third, and a home run in the fifth inning.

Okanogan Pitcher V. Bauer took the loss for Okanogan. She threw two innings, allowing 11 runs, ten hits, and striking out one. Home runs for Okanogan came when P. Wood homered in the fifth and sixth innings, and E. Chilcote homered in the fourth inning.

Okanogan had 13 hits in the game. E. Chilcote, P. Wood, J. Johnson, and V. Bauer each collected multiple hits for Okanogan, and E. Chilcote went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Okanogan in hits.

Chelan Pitcher Taylor Sams earned the win for the Goats. She tossed six innings, allowing six runs, 13 hits, striking out one, and walking one. The Goats collected 16 hits total. Lexie Gleasman, Katie Gleasman, Katanna Kelling, and Jessie Oules each collected multiple hits for Chelan.

Game 2 – Gleasman drives in four as the Goats defeat Okanogan

Katie Gleasman drove in four on three hits to lead the Goats past Okanogan 12-7 during Game 2. Gleasman drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the fourth, and a home run in the fifth.
The Goats collected 15 hits, and Okanogan had nine in the high-scoring affair.

Okanogan took an early lead in the first inning when Okanogan scored two runs with P. Wood homering with one out in the first inning.

Chelan came back to take the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Katie Gleasman singled off of V. Bauer, driving in one run. There was an error, scoring two runs, and a second error, scoring one run.

Chelan Pitcher Katanna Kelling earned the win for the Goats. She tossed four innings, surrendering five runs, five hits, striking out two, and walking one. V. Bauer took the loss for Okanogan. She went six innings, surrendering 12 runs, 15 hits, and striking out three.

Home runs for Okanogan came when J. Johnson homered in the second and seventh innings, Wood homered in the first inning, and E. Chilcote homered in the first inning. Wood, Johnson, and T. Aragon each collected multiple hits for Okanogan.

On the Chelan side, Sierra Shively, Katie Gleasman, Lexie Gleasman, Ashley Oswald, and Taylor Boykin each collected multiple hits for the Goats. Katie Gleasman and Shively each had three hits. The Lady Goats stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one.

All-in-all Chelan scored 29 runs in total throughout two games.
