Chelan Goats Volleyball takes 4th place at the 1A State Tournament in Yakima

Chelan’s Volleyball team concluded a great season by competing at the 1A State Volleyball Tournament held at the Yakima SunDome in Yakima, Wash. on Nov. 10 and 11, 2017. The team was able to wrap up their season by bringing home some hardware as Chelan placed 4th at the 1A State Tournament.

The team left Chelan on Thursday, Nov. 9 with a great send-off and lots of enthusiasm and excitement. On Friday, Nov. 10, the Goats were lined up to play Naches Valley, which they defeated in four sets. Scores were 25-22, 12-25, 25-10 and 27-25. 

Later on Friday, Chelan took on Charles Wright Academy, battling through five tough sets to finally win. Set scores 20-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 and 15-11.

On Day 2, Saturday, Nov. 11, the Goats faced a familiar opponent, Cascade High School, for the semi-finals. The Goats unfortunately lost to Cascade in three sets. Set scores were 20-25, 19-25, 11-25. 

Finally, the Goats were lined up to take on Lynden Christian for a 3rd or 4th Place finish. The Goats lost the match to Lynden Christian in four sets. Set scores were very close in the first three sets. Scores were 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 7-25

“I am very proud of how much this team has grown this season,” Coach Jenifer Rainville said. “We have had an amazing journey!”
