WENATCHEE – Link Transit may ask voters in Chelan and Douglas Counties to consider raising the sales tax to pay for expanded public transit services.

Link’s governing board approved a plan to put a measure on the February ballot asking for a two-tenths of one percent increase. Board members and Chelan County Commissioners Kevin Overbay and Doug England commented on the proposal with NCWLIFE News. . .

What it would pay for

At Monday afternoon’s meeting Link Transit board members discussed the proposed sales tax hike and what it would pay for. Recommendations for adding more services for disabled passengers, more park-and-rides, increasing the number of hours of service for late and swing shift workers are among the recommendations prioritized by Link Transit customers in a recent survey.

If approved the increase would be the first since Link was created in 1990. The Board is slated to make its final decision on a possible February 13 vote at its November 21 meeting.
