The Chelan Middle School hosted the annual Spring into Health and Wellness Fair in the Chelan High School Gym on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. The event featured demonstrations and activities aimed at helping students and community members live healthy.

Chelan EMS provided blood pressure tests, while Lake Chelan Community Hospital gave out Kind Bars and high-fives with Max the hospital dog.

“I was exhausted. Two hours of yoga and the kids wanted to do the hardest poses. It was so fun,” Simmons said of the experience.

Bellamia Spa, which has two locations in Chelan and one in Wenatchee, provided free massages in the massage chair. Students lined up around the gym to take a turn at the relaxing activity.

Chelan County Sheriff’s Office allowed participants the opportunity to experience a DUI check while wearing beer goggles. Students stumbled and laughed as they tried to walk a straight line. The activity reminded all involved how alcohol impairment can affect safety.

Lining the walls of the gym, student presentations offered advice on a multitude of health topics. Parents and community members perused the space enjoying all the hard work the students and volunteers put in to making the event happen.

A healthy meal of soup and salad was provided for guests, free of charge, and prizes were given out throughout the night as part of a raffle drawing.

In all, over 300 guests flocked to the Spring into Health and Wellness Fair throughout the evening.
