The roads look wet in the Lake Chelan Valley this morning, but this is pure ice. If you haven’t stepped outside yet and tried to walk down your driveway or out to your car, we urge you to take caution when or if you do.

The Lake Chelan School District has announced that classes will start at 9:40 a.m. today due to icy roads. Buses will run on the Monday late start schedule, and there will be no morning preschool.

Entiat, Orondo and Pateros Schools are all running 2 hours late today.

We do not have a report for Manson Schools yet as of this writing at 7:11 a.m.

Chelan County Public Works reports that lower valleys are receiving mostly rain, temperatures are averaging around 32 degrees in most locations. Upper elevations are receiving a freezing rain mix. Road conditions are fair at this time on the lower roads with patchy ice in isolated areas. As daylight approaches temperatures will lower and the roads will tighten up and could become very icy.

All primitive and dirt roads are a sheet of ice; driving conditions are treacherous on these roads. Motorists need to take extra precautions as the freezing rain may continue throughout the morning hours. Crews are out on their routes and treating areas of concern.
