The Lake Chelan Ladies Golf Club reports that Apple Valley Team Captain April Talley, along with Barb Rayburn, Elona Teague, Linda Reister, Carol Ferguson and Gail Peterson traveled to Yakima to play at Apple Tree bright and early Wednesday morning, August 23. They played the Leavenworth team, and although it was a hot, humid day, the team did well. The Lake Chelan ladies maintained their first place position for net points and second place in overall points. The women are third in gross points.
The anchor team of Carol Ferguson and Gail Peterson did so well that they won the first place honeypot money. To clarify, when they play, all chip in $2 for the honeypot. The two-person team that wins the most points for the day wins the honeypot money. To win first is a great accomplishment, so kudos to Carol and Gail! Next month they play the strong Lakeview team in Leavenworth.
Regular golf play on Thursday, August 24 was T’s and F’s (total of holes beginning with a T or an F less ½ handicap). Nineteen players competed. Janet Foyle won Division 1, while Joan Pierce placed first in Division 2. Toni Berry took second place, with Karen Holst in third place. Jane Storms and Karen Erickson tied for first in Division 3.
There were no birdies for the day, but four women chipped the little white ball into the cup (Roxanne Emerson, Janet Foyle, Joan Pierce, and Patty Myers).
The next competition on Thursday, August 31 will be Par 3’s plus five others (gross score of all par 3’s plus five other holes of your choice, less ½ handicap).
Check in is at 7:30 a.m. for the 8 a.m. tee time. Please be prompt. Sign up for the September 14, 2017 Invitational if you have not already done so. Preparations are underway for a spectacular Invitational with the theme of “Let’s Par-Tee.”
